Benefits of completing a graduate placement

It can be very difficult for graduates to begin a career in sustainability because most jobs require previous work experience. Placements provide that essential work experience to develop the skills needed to succeed in sustainability. It also allows graduates to broaden their knowledge of sustainable practice and policy within their sector of interest and presents many beneficial networking opportunities.

Placements are also beneficial to host organisations as it provides them with a flexible, fast and low cost way of recruiting high quality staff who are passionate about a particular area of work.

Our placement service

Sustainability West Midlands works with host organisations to put together placements, details of which are then circulated to subscribed graduates. The aim is to provide you with tailored experience relevant to your career development whilst the host organisation benefits from gaining a high quality, passionate member of staff.

Placements can be:

  • Part time or full time
  • Paid or voluntary (voluntary should include paying travel expenses within a specified area)
  • Anywhere in the West Midlands region
  • Any duration
