West Midlands Low Carbon LEP Leadership Network
The West Midlands Low Carbon LEP Leadership Network (WMLEP) aims to improve low carbon growth and job opportunities for WM Local Enterprise Partnerships. This group and work programme is supported by SWM, IEWM, Centro, Environment Agency and Smarter Working West Midlands. It builds on the previous Green jobs programme supported by IEWM. To date, additional help has been provided by West Midlands in Europe Service and the Sustainable Housing Action Partnership.
Why run this network?
LEPs play a critical role in helping to develop the low carbon agenda across the West Midlands. This Network aims to influence this by showcasing the benefits of investment in low carbon technologies and projects. Ultimately, the aim is to create job opportunities, generate resilient growth and stimulate the low carbon sector in the West Midlands, allowing the opportunity for our region to lead the way on this agenda. This, in turn, will improve the environment whilst influencing joint action towards our 2020 sustainability priorities as well as the priorities of the new West Midlands Combined Authority.
Involvement in the network is by invitation only and is attended by LEP officers and representatives responsible for developing the low carbon economy within their area.
