Update on the progress of the project
Sustainability Procurement 2008-9
Sustainability West Midlands' review of progress on the sustainable procurement actions of partners within the first year of the West Midlands Regional Economic Strategy reveals uncoordinated activity and lack of focus.
Our recommendations to focus on a number of areas and topics have begun to be taken forward by the Economic Inclusion Panel on social (local labour/skills) clauses within construction contracts and the appointment of a Sustainable Procurement officer for the Birmingham Strategic Partnership.
Sustainability Procurement 2009-10
Sustainability West Midlands, as part of the Business Futures and City Region projects begins to identify good transferable practice from its business members for the public sector, and good sub-regional public sector practice that could be scaled up across the region.
As part of the City Region leaders summit follow up action a project is being scoped with partners to help support partners identify key priorities and opportunities across local authority spending in the region.
(This project activity delivers our Business plan objectives around 2.4 establish sustainable procurement programme)
