Update on the progress of the project
Roadmap 2020 2007-2008
Sustainability West Midlands coordinated a policy group for its members, chaired by Natural England. This group helped to provide a space for debate and comment on emerging economic, social and environmental policy for the input into the West Midlands Regional Economic and Spatial Strategies.
Roadmap 2020 2008-2009
We worked with Advantage West Midlands and Forum for the Future to build on the low carbon and futures work for the West Midlands Regional Economic Strategy to set out a positive vision for the region that was practical and desirable. We launched this work as 'Vision 2020' in April 2009.
Roadmap 2020 2009-10
Sustainability West Midlands secures funding from Defra and Advantage West Midlands to carry out a review of the current regional sustainable development priorities, how they compare to 'Vision 2020' and what steps, partners and resources are required to achieve this vision.
Please see the project summary for this work as a download at the top left of this page.
We are also working with our members to reform our regional policy group to help coordinate debate and comment into the development of the new regional strategy.
This policy work is core to our vision of "by 2020 businesses and communities are thriving in a West Midlands that is environmentally sustainable and socially just. By 2012 our leaders are clear on what this looks like, have set clear milestones and their organisations are making strong progress."
(This project activity delivers our Business plan policy objectives around 1.2 Vision 2020 and 1.3 support for evidence base)
On 30 March we held the Roadmap 2020: Sustainable Development Priorities for the West Midlands Workshop. The presentation from the workshop can be found in our presentations section.
