Hereford Pedicabs Ltd is a sustainable, pedal powered, zero emission logistics service, keeping things simple and fun, honest and green.  They provide three main services and have saved over 1000 tonnes of carbon since their inception:

Zero emission pedal powered taxis.

Zero emission pedal powered cargo vehicles.

Zero emission pedal powered recycling vehicles.

The challenges

Providing pedal powered services which businesses and the public can use in place of carbon-emitting transport.

The solutions 

  • Pedicargo Vehicles from Britain to support the economy so they don't have to fly or ship the bikes from abroad.
  • Using electronic marketing instead of paper marketing.
  • Uniforms are sourced from a British company that use organic cottons and eco friendly dyes.
  • Pedicargo scheme provides recycling facilities for trade waste in Hereford.
  • Recycle bin bags of trade waste for £1 each (cheaper than landfill charge).

  • Inform businesses about their relevant carbon and energy savings.

The results

  • In the first two years of trading seven riders have helped over 25 000 individuals to travel throughout our city using sustainable green transport.
  • Transported in excess of 65 000 items of freight using the Pedicargo service preventing thousands of miles of small van journeys.
  • 300 inner city businesses now recycle their waste paper, plastic and cardboard. On average 4000 to 6000kgs of recyclable waste a week is prevented from going to landfill.

  • Saved over 1000 tonnes of CO2 from entering the environment.
