West Midlands Sustainability Checklist
Purpose of the presentation
The purpose of this presentation was to give the audience an insight into who Sustainability West Midlands are and what we do. This followed with a detailed description of the West Midlands Sustainability Checklist with a background of why the checklist has been developed and who for and examples of how to use this web based tool. Finally, an update on the checklist and how it is being used in practice by planners, County Councils and policy makers.
Relevance to the region
This checklist is very relevant to the region as it is a very useful tool which makes the National checklist which was developed in 2002, more region specific and relevant to the West Midlands.
What SWM liked
We like the checklist as it provides a user friendly, web based option for people in their day to day work. For example, the ability for every person to have their own account which can assist in their planning decisions and aid them in the development of sustainable communities. With the frequently asked questions and choice of benchmarks for each question, this keeps the checklist simple and usable.
