Arup is an independent firm of designers, engineers, architects, planners, consultants and technical specialists, working across every aspect of today’s built environment. Their presence in the Midlands stretches back to 1969. Now, with over 900 staff in Solihull and Nottingham, Arup in the Midlands brings together a strong multidisciplinary team with a vast range of skills.
“We aspire to have a positive influence on the world and sustainability is at the heart of our work. We believe that delivering sustainable outcomes for both current stakeholders and future generations will make our business stronger in the long run.”
They work with local clients including Birmingham City Council, HS2 Ltd, University of Birmingham and Highways England, and many more. Specialising in carbon, waste and energy, social values, economics, planning and management skills.
More recently they have created an ambitious masterplan for UK Central that could support in excess of 100,000 additional jobs and up to £19.5bn per annum by 2040. Our work with Highways England will assist in relieving traffic congestion along the 34 km (21 miles) length of the A14 between Cambridge and Huntington, and we continue to help shape and advise Midlands cities on urban strategy, planning, economics and finance.
Arup is committed to sustainability as in 2017 the Arup Group Board committed to contributing meaningfully to the UN Sustainable Development Goals creating shared value for our clients and communities and safeguarding our planet. They have a successful sustainability consultancy business working with many Clients in the UK on sustainability issues and strategy.
