Our Members > Centre for Research into Environmental Science & Technology
The Centre for Research into Environmental Science & Technology (CREST) is based at University Centre Shrewsbury, part of Chester University. CREST@UCS offers free support to small and medium enterprises in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin to innovate and conduct research into Environmental Science, Management and Technology to develop new processes, products or services.
The research centre has been set up to support businesses in environmental science and technology research; the CREST centre priority is to promote and facilitate R&D and new products to market in the environmental Tech sector, making business more sustainable, reducing resource use as well as minimising and managing waste streams more effectively.
The Centre aims to provide support for these SMEs through a range of services, such as hosting workshops to learn about new technologies and opportunities, as well as offering researcher placements.
CREST will support businesses by offering their services and products in areas including: groundwater; contaminated land; bio fuels and energy; flooding and hydrology; ecology; bioscience; air quality; noise and dust pollution and sustainable/smart housing for rural communities.
CREST is part funded by ERDF and in collaboration with Reaseheath College and University of Birmingham.
CREST joined SWM in 2018 and the team values SWM’s networks and support to extend their engagement, and we advocate the contribution the project will make to our regional objectives.
