Key responsibilities: Communications (inc. newsletter, social media, website)
As a Volunteer Communications Officer, I am responsible for assisting SWM with its communications and social media content, providing relevant updates to stakeholders regarding the work of SWM and its members, news, events and funding opportunities within the sustainability sector. Within this role, I am responsible for creating and publishing the monthly newsletter, updating social media channels such as Twitter and Linkedin and keeping the website up to date by posting news and events.
I have recently graduated from Coventry University with a 1st Class BA Human Geography degree. My main areas of interest within the sustainability sector include the circular economy and sustainable consumption, having completed my dissertation on consumer perceptions of sustainable fashion. However, during my degree I completed a number of modules regarding other aspects of sustainability such as climate change, food waste and land use. Over the course of my degree I became increasingly aware of and concerned about the implications of human behaviour on the environment and have therefore been inspired to make a change and help others do so as well, therefore I was delighted to be offered a role working for SWM. In my spare time, I am an advocate for sustainable fashion consumption and hope to create more content on this via my own social media platforms in the future.
