About Daljit
Daljit Kalirai is Sales Director at National Express West Midlands with over 25 years’ experience in the travel and transport sector. She was born in the West Midlands, educated locally and lives local with her husband and two daughters.
Profile
Commercially focused on ticketing, sales and customer experience, Daljit has been instrumental in delivering complex transport ticket schemes including digital smart and mobile ticketing. In 2017 National Express West Midlands became the first operator outside London to deliver contactless payments on their fleet of 1600 buses. This has resulted in a cheaper, more accessible stress-free way to catch the bus in the West Midlands.
Daljit has fostered strong relationships with key stakeholders across a variety of sectors. These include DWP, NHS and Education. She has also maintained and improved links with businesses in retail, financial and manufacturing to ensure bus operators are providing the most appropriate levels of service throughout the West Midlands. She is proud to have been part of a team that has increased public transport usage and goes towards her personal objective of reducing congestion and pollution within our county. Daljit is West Midlands Regional Lead for Women in Transport.
