Overview
Mat is the Managing Director of Slingshot Design Ltd, a company he started back in 2000.
Role as SWM Associate
Mat has worked with SWM for over ten years, initially designing the SWM branding, printed documents and website and subsequently hosting and maintaining our website. He also set up our GDPR-compliant CRM system in 2015. We have an excellent working relationship with Mat thanks to his expertise, flexibility and reliability and this has seen our website develop year on year.
We have also worked with Mat on many projects utilising his graphic design skills, most recently supporting an SWM-led project for client the Committee on Climate Change (CCC), in improving the accessibility of the next UK Climate Change Risk Assessment. Mat is providing support to improve the look and appearance of our written outputs, such as this report.
SWM is also pleased to have referred him on to other clients too, including the CCC for whom he has recently developed this new website dedicated to UK Climate Risk issues, and our long-term partners the Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands for whom he has re-designed and now hosts their website.
Profile
Mat has worked in the graphic design and web design industry for 25 years. Throughout his career, he has used his spare time to hone his design skills and learn new technologies. After training, Mat worked at design, advertising and marketing agencies. He became aware of the internet which was in its infancy and in his spare time learned how to make basic websites and interactive animations. There were very few people doing this at the time and meant that the companies he worked for where able to offer websites and multimedia to their clients for the first time.
In 2000, Mat started Slingshot, a graphic design and web design company. In the last 20 years as Managing Director, he has worked on a wide variety of projects, produced award winning designs and been published in several design books. As well as being a skilled graphic designer, Mat is a competent website programmer. This combination of skills means that he is able to offer everything from logos to complicated e-commence websites, all to a very high standard.

On a personal note, Mat is very interested in a low carbon future and sustainability and he lives in one of the UK’s first zero CO2 / autonomous eco houses, built in 1998!
