2030 Climate Emergency -Action Expo - Millenium Point, Birmingham B4 7XG - Thursday 21st September 2023, 9am-5pm

The Event

The central imperative is accelerating the transition from fossil fuel for power, heating and transport to mostly locally produced clean, renewable energy and technologies. This will create more new jobs, business and innovation. This could be complemented with energy efficiency, smart systems, storage and EV points creating a cleaner and fairer circular economy for all in the region.

These are the integrated features of community energy systems connecting clusters of buildings such as business, retail and industrial parks, hospitals, education campuses, housing associations or estates. This provides economy of scale, generating and consuming within the site with minimised interaction with the National Grid.

An all-day Public Exhibition in the Atrium with 40 stands offering solutions and engagement.

Thanks to the Midlands Net Zero Hub board approved support for the West Midlands Bright Solar Future partnership project which will:

1. produce a business plan for a West Midlands Solar Procurement Partnership to accelerate the delivery of of the UK 500% increase in solar power for the region by 2035.

2. undertake the solar mapping of the whole of the region the region indicating the potential locations, buildings, car parks and other opportunities.

3. to organise a rolling programme of Solar Solution Showcase events over three years located in Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton to cover the whole region promoting the solar opportunity to reduce both carbon emissions and energy costs.

This is a partnership project, welcoming many more stakeholders wishing to contribute and follow up.
