The event
Whole-house retrofit aims to improve the energy efficiency of a property. This includes improving the ‘building fabric’ (walls, windows, floors and roofs), the heating system and installing renewable energy where possible, such as heat pumps and solar panels.
In order to reach net zero, the UK’s housing stock will need to be carbon neutral by 2050. Councils are working hard to retrofit their own housing stock, whilst building construction skills in the community to build a pipeline of skills. This webinar, funded by Government, will share a number of good practice examples from experts and councils who are creating local green jobs in the area of housing retrofit. This will include hearing from the Retrofit Academy and a council and university partnership who are creating skills and jobs in housing retrofit.
Confirmed speakers:
- David Pierpoint, Founder and CEO at The Retrofit Academy CIC, The National Centre of Excellence for Retrofit
- Pippa Palmer, Research Strategist, School of Built Environment and Architecture, London South Bank University
- David Gleave, Economic Development Officer, Test Valley Borough Council
- Hannah Jameson, Assistant Director for Sustainable Development and Climate Change Response, Lambeth Council
