The Event
This event, convened by SWM in partnership with the Environment Agency, will showcase what good looks like in terms of projects and regeneration activities that have put nature-based solutions at their heart, improving resilience to climate change while also enhancing biodiversity, boosting the local economy and contributing to health and wellbeing outcomes.
The event will include a series of presentations reflecting projects that have achieved the above and we will then provide a site visit of the area in Stoke which has benefitted from investment via the SUNRISE project to show what such activity looks like in practice.
The event is suitable for any organisation from across England that may be interested or involved in similar projects, including local authorities, third sector organisations and universities that cover a variety of sectors including environment, biodiversity, planning, health and economic growth.
We are delighted that Julian Woolford, Chief Executive of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, will be chairing this event and it is to be hosted by Staffordshire University. Speakers include:
– Jim Davies, Senior Advisor (Local Nature Recovery Strategies), Environment Agency
– Emma Forde, Senior Researcher, Economic Intelligence Unit
– Simon Needle, Strategic Lead – Urban Forestry & Nature, Birmingham City Council
– Dave Cadman, Head of Nature Recovery Networks, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
– Sophie Spencer, Senior Environment Manager – Nature Recovery, West of England Combined Authority
– Matthew Lawrence, Environment Programme Manager, Environment Agency
