#CRCC2016

The Climate Resilient Communities Conference aims to showcase best practice from around the country with regards to implementing successful community resilience schemes in the face of changing weather patterns and their impacts.  Empowering communities and providing mechanisms for them to deal with the consequences of extreme weather is becoming a more and more popular approach, as the resource burden on both the communities and the relevant authorities is reduced considerably.  Results are often more effective when the community can have a direct say and influence in the interventions that need to occur in specific locations. This conference will explore where communities have benefited from such approaches, as well as provide the background as to why all of this is important.  It will showcase local and national case studies, there will be a Flood Hub session and a series of opportunities to interact. Speakers include the National Flood Forum, Environment Agency, Hampshire Local Resilience Forum, Chair of the Flood Protection Group at the Property Care Association, University of the West of England, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, University of Birmingham, Climate Information and Outreach Network, University of Westminster and Staffordshire County Council and Northamptonshire County Council’s Flood Risk Management team. There is no charge to attend CRCC2016. Lunch will be provided. Click here to download an agenda. The Conference will also mark the launch of the new West Midlands Climate Resilience Network.
