The event
In order to deliver large-scale retrofit of Europe’s existing housing stock, a much improved understanding is needed as to how an area-based approach can be used in practice as a means of driving down the per-household cost. Current retrofit approaches in the UK are overly simplistic and based on historic schemes which have not always been as efficient and effective as they could. This conference seeks to refresh our thinking on the subject.
Since late 2011, Parity Projects and its partner DeMontfort University have been working with funding from the Eracobuild Scheme via the Technology Strategy Board to research and explore the methodologies which can be applied to large-scale retrofit schemes centred on Leicester, Nottingham and Newark & Sherwood. With support from Athens University and The Frederick Research Centre in Cyprus, we have a very rounded view of how this market will be shaped in years to come.
This event will provide you with the opportunity to hear the outcomes of the Eracobuild project to date and discuss the wider retrofit agenda with key industry players, including academics, retrofit service providers, and Local Authorities/Housing Providers.
This event is for those:
- Interested in accurately planning area-wide retrofit schemes using data from a range of sources avoiding ‘top-down’ assumptions.
- Seeking innovative approaches to collecting household level data.
- Looking to implement local delivery networks for retrofit at-scale.
- Tackling fuel poverty with a strong local understanding of the need and sensible, practical steps to get there.
- Working at a national scale seeking new ways to direct policy in order to minimise the cost of at-scale retrofit.
- Looking for views from other EU states on tackling retrofit.
- Interested in accommodating Heat Island effects into their retrofit thinking.
