The event

Planning and permitting can be a huge challenge for businesses who are thinking of building a bioenergy plant or a bioenergy development scheme. The European Bioenergy Research Institute team at Aston University regularly talks to businesses who may have an idea for a bioenergy development but are unsure of how to proceed with the planning and permitting process. Unless you have a specialist in your organisation, mistakes made in planning applications can be time-consuming and costly to your business. To answer your questions, EBRI have running this free Planning and Permitting Workshop and a buffet lunch is included. EBRI has teamed up with URS Infrastructure & Environment Ltd to provide expert planning and permitting support and guidance for companies and organisations interested in bioenergy development. This workshop will provide you with a good understanding of how the planning and environmental permitting systems work. Case-study examples of first-hand experiences by URS consultants will be discussed along with the commonly experienced ‘pitfalls’ of the planning and permitting application processes. Workshop topics include:

  • Introduction to the planning system
  • Planning policy
  • Planning applications
  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
  • Introduction to the environmental permitting system
  • Permit applications
  • Regulatory guidance

The workshop will be interactive so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout. You will also be offered the opportunity to sign up for additional free 1:1 advice on planning and permitting to help move your bioenergy project forward.
