The event
SWM member Encraft invites you to their Conference 2016. This event aims to encourage and support innovators, building owners, landlords, local authorities, community groups and infrastructure providers who would like to understand more about the local opportunities for their organisations arising from the on-going transformation of the UK energy system. Rapid technical change is creating significant economic opportunities for cities, towns and communities to secure financial benefits by engaging more actively with their local energy system. For example, across the West Midlands region alone more than £3 million is spent every year on fuel and power, and the rapidly falling costs of IT, energy storage and local heat and power generation means that a significant proportion of this spend could be more efficiently retained locally. This is why cities such as Nottingham, London, Bristol and Glasgow are already establishing their own energy companies’ the government has established the Energy Systems Catapult; and the energy networks are anticipating investing more than £200 billion in new infrastructure over the next five years.
