The event itself

What do we need to do to secure a clean, green and affordable energy future? Birmingham Friends of the Earth and the University of Birmingham People & Planet Society are holding a panel discussion to answer that very question.

With the Energy Bill currently going through parliament, we stand at a crucial point in the UK’s energy policy. The discussion, which forms part of the Clean British Energy Campaign and the Energy Bill Revolution, will tackle the issues of fuel poverty and renewable energy, asking what we need to do to move forward on both these vital subjects.

The panel is being chaired by Graeme Brown, Business editor of the Birmingham Post and Mail, and features some of the most knowledgeable speakers on the subject. Speakers include:

  • Guy Shrubsole – Energy Campaigner, Friends of the Earth
  • Steve McCabe – MP for Selly Oak
  • Lorraine Gumbs – Warm Zones
  • Rosemary Coyne – Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, and co-ordinator of the Sustainable Housing Action Partnership and SWM member
