The event
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) fund is a requirement under Article 7 of the ERDF EU Regulations and in Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP), the funding allocation is made up of Priority 4 (Low Carbon) and Priority 6 (Environment and Resource Efficiency) monies from GBSLEP’s current ERDF programme. This is in response to the current call which is out for applications until March 2018. Applications sought are those that support the SUD strategy which focuses on maximising the economic impact of the High-Speed Rail line (HS2) arrival in the area. This includes projects which will promote initiatives that address energy and efficiency, connectivity, blue and green Infrastructure and greenfield corridors, amongst others. Particularly the strategy seeks to support environmental sustainability initiatives which will make the very best use of land and economies of scale. This can be achieved through aligning the planning, design and investment in infrastructure to ensure optimal levels of sustainable development that makes the most of the investment going into HS2 as a new high capacity public transport network. This workshop will provide more information about the SUD, including eligibility of applications and projects and logistical details. It will ask delegates to identify potential opportunities and projects that could be suitable for SUD. There will also be some time for discussion around ERDF Priority 4 (low carbon) in the GBSLEP area in general in terms of project ideas and available funding. SWM provides technical assistance to GBSLEP on low carbon related ERDF funding. An agenda is available here.
