The event itself
At Upton, an extension project is underway to extend Northampton in a way that demonstrates best practice in sustainable urban growth. This day will give you the chance to see design codes working in practice and how a high quality public realm can be achieved on a big project and still stick to design code principles. Several members of the design team will guide you around the development and explain some of the issues faced and the conditions which are leading to successful outcomes.
The day itself will showcase different ways of thinking about the delivery of high quality places through architecture and design. The programme for the day is;
- Coach leaves Millennium Point, Birmingham at 9.00am
- Refreshments and introductory presentation – Rosanna Law, EDAW
- Extensive site tour of Upton urban extension
- Buffet lunch
- Focus on sustainable homes at Upton – Metropolitan Housing Partnership’s six homes, built to level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
- Refreshments and keynote speaker
