The Event
WEST are a group of willing, energised, smart and talented students passionate about using our skills to reduce the impacts on climate change. We form
WEST (Women in Engineering, Science and Technology), a student society at Aston University, Birmingham affiliated with WES (Women in Engineering Society).
WEST will be holding a Green and Sustainable Careers Fair open to all Aston students in collaboration with Aston Students’ Union and Aston University. The careers fair will serve as a platform for students to discover career paths in sustainability-focused local companies. We have exhibitor space available and we welcome your company to promote your actions to tackle climate change.
Your exhibit will include:
- A table at the careers fair
- Clear actions that your company is taking to become greener and/or more sustainable
- Information about careers and placements within your company.
We encourage companies to think about reducing plastic for any free giveaways at the event.
Aston students are encouraged to take a placement on their third year of study and 80% of Aston graduates go on to graduate level jobs or further education within six months of graduating. As current students, we are more dedicated to sustainability than previous generations and want to be part of companies aligned with our values- “62% want to work for a company that makes a positive impact” (Guardian article 2015).
This is an opportunity for your company to reach those students. Is your company seeking recent graduates or placement students? Are you focused on sustainability and/or green energy?
