The event
The Innovative Zero Carbon Working Group (IZCWG) is run by SWM in partnership with the
Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands (IAWM). We run the group in our role as Zero Carbon lead for the
Virtual Innovation Team, part of the
West Midlands Innovation Programme.
In this meeting, we will be focusing on how businesses, zero carbon or otherwise, can better insulate themselves from the current energy crisis through energy retrofit.
We will also discuss newly emerging ideas for the Innovation Accelerator – an estimated £30m investment into the region announced in the Government’s 2022 Levelling up White Paper, to ensure the region benefits from the commitment to increase overall UK public research and development funding to £20bn by 2024/25. Aligning with the West Midlands Plan for Growth, the Innovation Accelerator will build on our Manufacturing and Engineering strengths and be focused on two key areas, HealthTech & MedTech and CleanTech.
IZCWG meetings run quarterly, and aim to share information and good practice and catalyse new partnerships and collaborative activities that help to further develop innovation within the sector.
Notes and presentations from previous IZCWG meetings can be found on our
Resources page. Scroll down to find the IAWM logo.
