Local Government Association (LGA)

LGA Housing Retrofit and Decarbonisation Virtual Event

The Event

Whole house retrofit aims to improve the energy efficiency of a property. This includes improving the ‘building fabric’ of properties (walls, windows, floors, and roofs), updating the efficiency of heating systems, achieving energy security, or installing renewable energy sources where possible, such as heat pumps and solar panels.

In order to reach net zero, the UK’s housing stock will need to be carbon neutral by 2050. Councils are working hard to retrofit their own housing stock, whilst building construction skills in the community to create a pipeline of skills.

This virtual event will highlight the importance of developing a council’s capability to deliver housing retrofit and decarbonisation programmes while creating an environment to support key partners and stakeholders regionally to assist the retrofitting agenda and decarbonising of housing stock.

This sustainability virtual event is delivered by the LGA, funded by and, in partnership with the Crown Commercial Service.
