The event
Sustainability West Midlands (SWM) is providing sustainability support to the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to integrate key sustainability issues within the WMCA structure, the Single Economic Plan (SEP), and subsequent delivery programmes. One of our work streams was to update the low carbon evidence base of the WMCA and wider West Midlands area to inform the SEP and delivery programmes. To achieve this we’ve updated our work with WM local authorities and LEPs on benchmarking good practice. We have developed and used a good practice benchmarking framework which allows local authorities to assess their progress and performance in addressing climate change and the low carbon economy. This helps us identify and share good practice, target support, and assess its impact. At this event we will:
- Share the results of the 2016 benchmark
- Share good practice case studies from around the region
- Ask for your feedback for our report to the WMCA
This is the fifth time that we have undertaken this exercise with a pilot in early 2010, a baseline in late 2010 and progress reviews in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The draft agenda for the event is available here.
