The event
You are invited to MMBEN’s summer site visit to
Cole Mere Country Park to see work undertaken through the
Meres and Mosses Landscape Partnership Scheme, some of which was part-sponsored by MMBEN members.
Why is this site so important?
- A mosaic of wetland, grassland and woodland habitat supporting a wide range of species.
- A fascinating history dating back to its creation in the last ice age.
- The only site in England where the Least Water Lily is known to grow naturally.
- A recent project supported by MMBEN members Design With Nature and Sulphate Solutions has worked with Kew Gardens to investigate this significant population.
- The only Shropshire mere with a fully circular walk, making it accessible at all times of the year.
Appropriate shoes/boots & clothing are essential and ensure you have sun cream and/or water if necessary.
