Currently, businesses and organisations are driving down costs and improving efficiency more than ever before. At the same time, the cost of travel is rising and employees are demanding more flexibility in the way they work. Until now the limited tools and methods that enable people to work remotely, or in an agile manner, have been complicated and the limited tools available have often been unreliable and expensive.

Following on from the recently launched Department for Transport’s “Alternative to Travel” initiative, which sets the scene for smarter, agile ways of working, this conference will help organisations in the Midlands make the case for adopting these approaches.

It will demonstrate, through a number of case studies, that barriers to reducing the need for business travel no longer exist. By taking an innovative approach to working practices, encouraging agile working and home working, using ICT and social media to replace meetings and promoting sustainable travel modes, organisations can reduce travel, lower costs, become more competitive and have a more adaptive workforce.

Delegates will be invited to take part in a choice of workshops, to enable smarter working in their workplace. You will also be given an opportunity to question the presenters on any of the issues or subjects raised in the event. The event will also launch the new West Midlands TravelWise website, which offers a range of tools for businesses, schools and community groups.

This Conference is free to all to attend and includes a light lunch. It is being hosted by the award-winning West Midlands Regional TravelWise Group.
