The event

In 2014 Coventry held a Rush Hour Challenge which saw people travel actively to the Memorial Park from the Council House, co-ordinated by Coventry on the Move (view the useful, cool video to remind yourself). This year Coventry on the Move are planning on doing this all again but, this time, Public Health England West Midlands, Solihull and Walsall councils together with SWM members, Sustrans, Birmingham and Warwickshire councils are all getting involved too! Rush Hour Challenge promotes the following:

  • Using non-motorised forms of transport to get to and from work / school
  • Using public transport as an alternative to the car
  • Getting fit and being active
  • Saving money on parking and fuel
  • Saving the environment
  • Getting to know your local area and making the most of it

There are lots of ways to participate in a rush hour challenge including but never limited to:

  • Walking
  • Cycling
  • Running
  • Scootering
  • Roller blading
  • Bus or train (people who take public transport do more steps and it’s better for the environment)
