The event

Upgrading lighting in non-domestic premises offers a huge energy and cost saving opportunity for both individual businesses and our national energy demand as a whole.  With the commercial sector accounting for 70% of lighting energy demand, it’s estimated that around 14 billion kWh could be saved through low-energy lighting. LED upgrade projects do not deliver expected results without using quality products and appropriate installation and design. Financing may also be a barrier; whilst grant and loan schemes are available, 71% of independent retailers polled for Switch the Lights cited upfront cost as the main barrier to switching. Premium Light Pro aims to address these barriers by providing a series of training workshops for the non-domestic sector. The first of these will be delivered alongside highly experienced trainers from the Lighting Industry Academy and cover topics such as:

  • An introduction to LED lighting and controls, and the savings possible
  • Understanding technical jargon and manufacturer data sheets
  • Design: the right light in the right place and how best to use daylight
  • Procurement, quality, cost, and performance claims
  • Project funding information

The workshop will give you the knowledge and tools you need to get your lighting installation off the ground and start saving on energy costs. As well as learning from some of the most experienced trainers in the lighting community, the workshop includes a tour of the LIA Lighting Laboratory to bring products and systems to life and brochures produced by the Premium Light Pro consortium on procurement criteria and design guidance.
