The Event

The construction industry has a major role to play in helping the UK achieve its 2050 Net Zero goals. The WMCA’s Circular Economy Routemap highlights a few key ways digital construction and placemaking can help accelerate the region’s progress to Net Zero. Repurposing to Zero, an upcoming project funded by the West Midlands Innovation Programme, explores these themes in greater depth. The project will help frame this Smart Places Working Group event. Speakers include colleagues from the West Midlands Combined Authority’s Environment team, the University of Wolverhampton’s School of Architecture and the Built Environment, and Arup. Full speaker details will be published closer to the event date. This SPWG event is for anyone who wants to learn more about how Tech, Digital, and Smart can help drive sustainability goals. No prior knowledge of “2050 Net Zero” or the Circular Economy Routemap is assumed. Both will be discussed during the event. Please note that this will be a hybrid meeting. In-person attendees are welcome to join them at the WMCA’s office (16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD). Online attendees will be sent the Zoom link 1-2 days before the event.
