Steps to Improve your Environmental Impact Walsall Heritage Forum

The Event

Following the launch of the new Walsall Heritage Forum, join local social enterprises, charities, community groups and professionals, all working together to drive forward the Walsall Heritage Strategy (2021-2026).

To help local organisations build resilience and develop new projects for the future, Walsall Council and Cultural Associates Oxford are delivering a brand new programme of free training. This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The climate crisis is one of the most significant challenges facing us today. It can often feel like an overwhelming task to try to address it, so this session will offer simple practical steps and inspire you to

The session will encourage you to share your collective experiences, discuss case studies of good practice, and explore how the issue of environmental sustainability can be presented to funders. You’ll have an opportunity to think of specific steps your organisation can take. No matter what work you do, everyone has a role to play in reducing our impact on the environment

Learning outcomes:

  1. Know some small achievable steps that can improve your environmental impact
  2. Think about practical actions your organisation could take
  3. Understand that funders expect a proportionate approach to environmental impact
  4. Be familiar with some case studies of improvements to environmental impact

Training lead:

Tamsin Stewart focused much of her undergraduate and postgraduate research on the impact of human activity on natural environments. She has since been working in the heritage sector and so is well equipped to bring these two areas together.

Training support:

Maurice Davies led the Museums Association’s work on sustainability and has a particular interest in ways of avoiding air conditioning in museum and heritage buildings.
