The event itself
This seminar is entitled: ‘The role of Planning in supporting business resilience in the rural community’
The agricultural sector is an important part of the UK economy, but one which faces particular challenges. Farmers know they have to adapt to meet the challenges of climate change, food security and foreign imports. One way to support business resilience is to build a winter storage reservoir. Although not that common in the West Midlands, applications for planning permission for these structures are likely to rise in the near future.
This event therefore aims to provide local authorities with an understanding of the environmental context and drivers for water resource management both locally and nationally to support their future decision making.
The seminar involves opportunity to discuss with experts and peers, and also offers a site visit to a local winter storage reservoir to discuss issues with the farmer.
Lunch will be provided.
