The CIWEM West Midlands branch are delighted to have us come and talk about our Sustainability Roadmap up to 2030 for the region followed by a Q&A session.
Sustainability West Midlands, (SWM), was established in 2002 and we are the independent sustainability adviser for the region. Our vision to 2030 is that the West Midlands makes good progress in contributing to the national target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 whilst addressing health inequality and driving inclusive growth.
To deliver our vision, the Sustainability Roadmap to 2030 has been developed through extensive consultation with cross-sector, regional stakeholders and is based on evidence and current sustainability policy at local, national and international level.
The Roadmap is independent but intended to compliment other strategies including those of the West Midlands Combined Authority, our Local Enterprise Partnerships and local authorities. The Roadmap to 2030 identifies eight priority areas of focus for the region, along with challenging and measurable targets which will be monitored annually by us, SWM, using the best available data. We have monitored sustainability progress for the region since 2010, providing a useful indication of progress but also on areas where focus and attention is needed.
Delegates at this workshop will be provided with an overview of the development of the Roadmap and next steps including the role of SWM but also for their own organisation. The workshop will include a discussion and options for Q&A.
