The Event
There is conclusive evidence that the impacts of climate change will affect our businesses, supply chains and communities in the West Midlands. This includes impacts not limited to flooding, overheating, storm damage and increasing frequency and magnitude of extreme weather events. Last year’s UK Climate Change Risk Assessment outlined the risks to businesses as follows:
- Risks to business sites from flooding.
- Risks to businesses from the impacts on water availability and quality.
- Risks to finance, investment and insurance including access to capital for businesses.
- Risks to business from reduced employee productivity due to infrastructure disruption and higher temperatures in working environments
- Risks to business from disruption to supply chains and distribution networks.
- Potential opportunities for business from changes in demand for goods and services.
