The Event

Register now for this month’s West Midlands Net Zero Business Pledge Drop-In Session.

This session will have a focus on the impact of IT equipment and digital services on the environment, and how to reduce this on your journey to net zero. However, we still encourage you to bring all updates or challenges related to net zero to the session.

Agenda
  • Introduction and updates from Anna Bright, Sustainability West Midlands (SWM)
  • The impact of IT equipment and digital services on the environment, and how to reduce this on your journey to net zero – David Abosch, Cognition Cloud
  • Roundtable discussion with an opportunity for organisations to introduce themselves, provide updates and share and discuss challenges or opportunities related to net zero in a relaxed environment.
Guest speaker – David Abosch, Cognition Cloud

We are pleased to welcome pledger and SWM member David Abosch as this session’s speaker for the West Midlands Net Zero Business Pledge drop-in.

As a business and IT consultant, David has spent over 20 years helping large global enterprises implement digital transformation, now applied through his company, Cognition Cloud, helping organisations with services such as extending the life of end-user computers, identifying the carbon footprint associated with their tech stack and providing guidance on how to reduce this.

David also runs ReCognition Circular, a not for profit Community Interest Company promoting and enabling digital inclusion in the local community. ReCognition runs programmes to train young people to repair and refurbish computers. They support participants with finding fulfilling work that also helps eliminate e-waste.

Come and hear David speak about his work, and to learn how you can begin to identify and reduce the footprint of your IT services and equipment!

Occurring once every two months, the pledge drop-in sessions are a chance for peer-to-peer learning between businesses. We hope you can use this time to connect and discuss your own approaches to net zero, as well as the successes and challenges associated with this agenda. Sustainability West Midlands will be on hand with help and guidance alongside other organisations and existing pledgers. Drop-in sessions are available to all organisations who have made their net zero pledge and to those who are interested in pledging, so please share with other businesses you think could benefit.
