Background:

The ITA was created in July 2014 and is formed of the councils and LEPs covering the West Midlands Metropolitan Area. Its role is to provide the strategic transport policy and planning required for the area and the future proposed combined authority. Centro will continue, but as one of many transport delivery partners for the overall strategy. Between 2 February and 13 March the ITA is carrying out early stage informal stakeholder workshops on the strategic transport plan for the West Midlands prior to the formal consultation later in the year. This event on 6 March is aimed at a range of SWM’s members and network members to gather their early views and input into the transport strategy such as:

  • The balance between economic growth, social and environmental goals such as air quality and carbon reduction.
  • Resilience to coping with change over the next 20 years of climate, technology, and demographic changes.
  • Key criteria for prioritisation of investment and new sources of funding.
