The event itself
This event will offer secondary schools and colleges from Worcestershire, Herefordshire and the surrounding areas the opportunity to bring a group of students (13-19 years old) for a day which will inspire them to consider a career within the green economy. It will allow pupils to:
- Make the link between the classroom and career opportunities in a growing sector
- Explore pathways into work, from apprenticeships to PhD’s
- Develop a low carbon, sustainable future
- Build personal, social and life skills
The day will also encourage participants to act as ambassadors back in school and to work with the Eco Committee and/or School Council to share these possibilities with the wider school community.
Green businesses will be able to promote their work to the green generation, and there are free exhibition spaces at the event. Businesses and local employers who participate will have a unique opportunity to:
- Promote the skills and academic qualifications needed by you as an employer
- Increase the recognition of your business as a contributor to the green economy
- Demonstrate your commitment to sustainability in your community and to the young people who will shape the future
The organisers are also seeking professionals willing to mentor students during interactive workshops.
