The event

One of the outcomes of the Paris COP21 conference is that a global agreement on achieving zero emissions needs to happen as ‘soon as possible’ and the need to have a ‘net zero emissions’ during the second half of the century is essential. However, there is no global plan about how this will actually be done, and national policies, including that of the UK, are still to be aligned with these challenging objectives. In the absence of a global plan, this conference series address the ‘how’ question and thus it makes a small but important step towards a global change in the right direction. Conference themes include:
  • New and retrofit zero carbon buildings
  • Zero carbon villages and communities
  • Post occupancy evaluation of zero carbon projects
  • Design methods and design tools
  • New materials, construction methods and embodied energy
  • Advances in renewable energy systems and storage
  • Zero carbon projects and climate change
  • New business and economic models
  • Legislation and policy
  • Social aspects and culture change
  • Case studies
  • Future projects
There is also a Technical visit to Birmingham Zero Carbon House  between 11:00 and 13:00 on Saturday, 10 September.
