Lantra is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the environmental and land-based industries.

They play a vital role in bridging the gap between what the industry demands and what the skilling requirements ought to be. They do this by working in partnership to:
- Attract, develop, and retain a diverse workforce
- Train people to work safely, productively, and sustainably
- Encourage and support a commitment to Lifelong Learning
- Understand sector skills needs to anticipate future skills and learning requirements
Lantra serves a diverse range of businesses across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, with our Head Office being in the West Midlands. They work in partnership with a number of industries including agriculture, environmental conservation, wildlife management, horticulture and landscaping, land-based engineering, highways, and warehousing and logistics.
On their membership with SWM, they say:
“Lantra is focused on helping the sector in its transition to net zero, fulfilling its environmental responsibilities for a more sustainable future. We are committed to being more sustainable in our operations, whilst providing training and development opportunities for staff to improve their sustainability and carbon literacy. We will benefit from being part of the SWM membership, sharing and learning from best practice amongst this network.”
Our primary contact is Corrina Urquhart, Director of External Relations.
