Staffordshire Community Energy (SCE) is a nonprofit community energy society based in Staffordshire, working in partnership to deliver clean energy that benefits people, place & planet.
In 2011 and 2016, SCE raised the funds through two community share issues for two separate projects, which consisted of them commissioning the installation of PV panels on a number of community and hospital buildings in Staffordshire.
The organisations using the buildings benefit from free or reduced-price electricity when the panels are generating, and as a non-profit organisation, SCE make available for community benefit any financial surpluses not required for the development of the Society or projects. These include installations on hospitals in Stoke and Stafford and on St Giles Hospice, Whittington. Community funds provide support to a range of environmental projects and fuel poverty advice.
