LINK is fast developing the technology to grow circularity in the reuse of construction materials.
The LINK Consortium, led by SWM members Nazir Associates, are trying to build general awareness of reuse of construction materials and the need for standardisation and specification of reused materials which will help LINK ensure it has the context materials listing and cataloging structure.
Willmott Dixon, Hill & Smith Group and many others have been exploring the use of mobile app technology at the reclaimed product source to speed up the time it takes for excess building materials to be either removed from site or procured for use in building projects. Some companies have suggested an “ebay” type of platform for the construction reuse materials to be the answer for such B2B reuse material sales. However most construction companies see the time it takes to upload images, add details, input price details, add location of pick as time consuming and a big barrier to circularity.
They have welcomed a solution that with a few clicks and within seconds enables the placement of the reuse product onto a reuse product platform which has auto-management function for the whole pick-up, payment, delivery and sales process.
LINK have already completed the system architecture and the materials sales platform design. Now they would like construction companies interested in the technology they are developing to register their interest to be the first to try the technology, once it is developed.
