This double report – Progress in reducing emissions and Progress in adapting to climate change provides a comprehensive overview of the UK Government’s progress to date on reducing emissions and adapting to climate change. Together, the assessment offers more than 200 policy recommendations covering every part of Government. Some of the key information is as follows:
- The Government has made historic climate promises in the past year, for which it deserves credit. However, it has been too slow to follow these with delivery.
- Only five of 34 sectors assessed have shown notable progress in the past two years, and no sector is yet scoring highly in lowering its level of risk.
- Adaptation is vital to achieving society’s goals and must be embedded throughout government policies.
