Currently, there are lots of exciting projects and engagement opportunities with the European Union on the opportunities and threats of our challenge of adapting to climate adaptation.
We’ve collated these below;
1. The European Climate Adaptation Platform (CLIMATE-ADAPT) aims to support Europe in adapting to climate change. It is an initiative of the European Commission and helps users to access and share information on:
- Expected climate change in Europe
- Current and future vulnerability of regions and sectors
- National and transnational adaptation strategies
- Adaptation case studies and potential adaptation options
- Tools that support adaptation planning
2. The European Commission has launched a consultation on preparation of the EU climate change adaptation strategy. It builds on the Commission’s 2009 White Paper and focuses on strengthening the knowledge base, facilitating cooperation and developing a policy and market framework for adaptation in the EU. Please respond by 20 August.
3. A new project has just launched entitled ‘Adaptation strategies for European cities’ which aims to provide assistance in capacity building to cities who are looking to increase their awareness of climate adaptation and implement a climate adaptation strategy.
