Ecuity: Energy and Economic Report

Ecuity have published their new Energy and Economic Report for the first quarter of 2018. This report focuses on the UK energy market and economy. Key indicators have been selected across both areas and concisely summarised. The report also informs on key upcoming consultations (and deadlines) such as the ‘Road to Zero’ strategy which is scheduled for release in June/July. Our economics team update the data sources we use for our policy analysis consistently, and we have developed a short report which tracks changes in some of this data, including the installed base of ECO measures, housing starts and the state of the economy. Some notable trends from the first edition of the report:

  • Wind & solar generation overtaking nuclear for the first time in Q4 2017
  • Market share for the new diesel vehicles falling by 10% points (year-on-year) in the year to April 2018
  • Economy growing at the slowest rate in 6 years
