Energy Capital was founded on the principles of ‘partnership’ – bringing together active participants from the private and public sector, industry and business. We’d like to take that participation to the next level by holding a series of collaboration days for partners across the energy and related sectors.
These events will be held in the third week of each month, usually at the Energy Innovation Centre at Tyseley (although that may vary from time to time). The centrepiece of these days will be presentation, interaction, networking and lunch, from 12.15 to 13.45, and what we’d also like to encourage is for partners to book in space before and after the more formal lunch session, to meet and collaborate with likeminded organisations – in effect, an ‘energy cluster pop-up’.
We are extremely grateful to our colleagues at Tyseley Energy Park, the University of Birmingham and the Midlands Net Zero Hub for their cooperation and support in bringing these events forward. Booking details will be circulated shortly through Eventbrite, but we wanted to put a ‘save the date’ in your diaries for the first two of these events:
Tuesday 19 July 2022
At the lunchtime session, we’ll be focusing on Place-based Approaches to Retrofit, with presentations from our SMART Hub team and industry partners. This will be a hybrid session – in-person and via a Zoom link – followed by lunch and networking (although those joining online will need to provide their own lunch!). In the session, we’ll share and explore the opportunities associated with delivering retrofit on-the-ground, as well as how we can work together to secure greater devolution of powers from central to local government.
Importantly, though, we’d also like to invite partners to hot-desk at the Centre in the morning and afternoon. Booking opportunities will be available through the Eventbrite page, and you might like to engage with your network in advance to see if partners would like to collaborate with you on the day to maximise the value of your time spent at Tyseley. For those who can attend in person, we will also run a drop-in session to explore how to get the most from the recently developed Regional Stock Assessment Tool by Parity Projects.
Tuesday 16 August 2022
Although we appreciate this will be during the holiday period, we’d like to keep the momentum of these events running for those who are around. This session will be based around the smart local energy system innovation projects that have taken place in the region and will explore how the learning from these projects is helping to shape delivery mechanisms including heat zoning, local area energy planning and investment vehicle development. Precise details will be circulated closer to the time, but the format will follow the same as the first Collaboration Day.
We really hope you’ll be able to join us and do feel free to pass this invitation to a colleague if you think they would appreciate the opportunity to get involved. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do get in touch with your usual Energy Capital contact, or Steve Bowyer (steve.bowyer@wmca.org.uk), who’ll be happy to help you further.
