Location

Organisers

Places in Common and partnered with Birmingham City University’s STEAMhouse.

The Event

Exploring ways to enable communities to come together as equals to find common cause in driving action on climate change and staying within the IPCC 1.5 degrees requirement.

It’s a  virtual working group across climate action and community engagement to share experiences and understanding and develop new and alternative ways to connect with disengaged and disadvantaged communities, in the climate conversation. The aim is to draw out a set of opportunities for taking forward community engagement within the R20 process and wider city engagement.

Up to 20 people are wanted including:

  • Members of the R20 Taskforce
  • Climate Engagement Working Group
  • Members of the West Midlands Climate Action Network
  • Socially engaged artists and creatives
  • Climate Strikers
  • Community leaders/gatekeepers/champions.

The event will use a STEAMhouse enabled process of ‘design-thinking’ to lead us towards ideas and opportunities. Inspiration and insight will be gained from the frontline drawing on the community dialogues undertaken by Places in Common as part of its R20 work with Climate KIC and UK100s. Led by Co-Founder Lisa Trickett will provide kick off the sessions and provide brokerage support for the ideation.
