Severn Trent Water has partnered with the Refill initiative, a fantastic new scheme which gives you free and easy access to refreshing tap water when you’re out and about. Over 600 businesses in our region have already signed up, with more joining all the time and adding to the 12,000 Refill Stations across the UK – these include shops, cafes, restaurants and museums.
The benefits to the sustainability agenda largely speak for themselves, but key benefits include:
Health and hydration
- Refill means it’s easier (and cheaper) for you to have your recommended eight glasses of water.
- Water is a healthy choice for quenching your thirst, it has no calories and contains no sugars that can damage teeth.
Plastic reduction
- Single-use plastic bottles are expensive to produce and are a large contributor of plastic pollution in our rivers, seas and natural habitats.
- If every Severn Trent customer refilled just once a week instead of buying a bottle of water, we’d reduce our region’s plastic consumption by 400 million bottles in just one year.
So whenever your water bottle is running low – look out for the blue Refill sticker in the window of local businesses. You’ll be able to ask for it to be refilled free of charge, or use the self-service station provided. There’s no catch and you don’t have to buy anything in return. If you don’t have a reusable water bottle – why not invest in one? That way, you’ll always have a bottle ready to fill up when you’re thirsty. By swapping bottled water for free tap water it will soon pay for itself and you’ll be helping the environment too.
