Independent analysis of public sector energy costs across 2023/24 has shown West Mercia Energy (WME)’s public sector customers rank in the top 25% for the cheapest energy prices when compared with data collected from 400 public sector organisations.
This is the third year in a row that WME have ranked in the top quartile for the cheapest energy, demonstrating remarkable consistency and long-term value for money for their public sector customers.
In their second annual report published this July, Box CIC evaluated over £4.3 billion in energy spend across more than 400 organisations within the public sector. The information was gathered via Freedom of Information requests. Our internal evaluation of Box CIC’s findings confirms that WME customers WME within our core flexible purchasing basket, continue to enjoy some of the most competitive rates available.
Our analysis shows that all WME customers within our core flexible purchasing basket, rank within the top 25% of the cheapest rates.
Our findings also show that when taking into account the average prices paid across Local Authorities, WME’s core basket also rank excellently. Reviewing combined gas and electricity prices across 2023/24 shows WME’s customers return some 12% cheaper, than the average prices paid.
When considering the three-year analysis, covering 2021/22 to 2023/24, WME’s customers have paid an impressive 24% lower than the average costs. This equates to a saving of over £68m over the three years.
Gavin Owen, WME’s Head of Business Development commented, “We are delighted that our customers rank amongst the cheapest rates yet again in this report. To be within the top 25% for the third year running is a testament to the management and delivery of our flexible, risk managed energy procurement strategy, which is delivering consistent value for money and financial protection in what remains a volatile market”.
WME’s fully flexible energy procurement is delivered via our PCR Compliant Flexible Energy Frameworks.
