Green recovery – innovative company expands in the West Midlands

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, strategy consultancy Accelar Limited has grown its team in the West Midlands through two new hires, contributing to green jobs in the region.

New recruits

Associate Director Clare Ollerenshaw brings extensive experience in the circular economy, sustainability and stakeholder management.  Prior to joining Accelar, Clare ran Circular Consultants and previously led the development of the first circular economy route map for the UK capital during her work with the London Waste and Recycling Board.

Sustainability Analyst Michael Smith strengthens Accelar’s capabilities in data analytics and pinpointing performance improvements for clients.  Michael is an economist, bringing digital analytics and risk management experience from his work in the financial services sector.

Operating via a progressive model combining home working and hubs, Accelar has also strengthened its presence in the West Midlands having been awarded a place in the Natwest Entrepreneur Accelerator based in Birmingham.  The team is actively participating in the programme.

The company

The imperatives are now stronger than ever, not least to drive down carbon emissions and regenerate our natural and urban areas. The speed of change is also more rapid in a digitally-enabled world. Ultimately, successful economies will be based on net-zero emissions and many organisations, places and projects are looking to innovate to accelerate this transition. Whether you are looking to lead and disrupt or purely keep pace with relevant trends, this creates an array of opportunities for investors, businesses, governments and communities alike.

The company has already successfully advised a range of public and private sector clients on their clean growth strategies, delivery plans and performance metrics.  Ongoing areas of work for Accelar include: carbon and sustainability benchmarking for infrastructure projects; incentive programmes for energy efficiency building retrofit; large scale approaches for climate-resilient infrastructure, and innovative property level flood protection.
