How to win work on HS2

At the roundtable with HS2 Ltd and Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce on 20th June, HS2 offered to share information on how to identify supply chain opportunities and to compete for and win work on HS2. The following steps outlined below are recommended: 1. View their supply chain resources:  ‘Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the business section of our website by searching for ‘HS2 business’ at www.gov.uk/hs2.  In particular, download the HS2 Supplier Guide and FAQs to find out what we’re buying, when we’re buying, how we are engaging with the supply chain and where you can access opportunities.  These resources also include information on our HS2 culture and what we want from the supply chain, relating to Environmental Sustainability, Health & Safety (including our  Supply Chain H&S Standard), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Building Information Modelling (include our BIM Upskilling Platform), Skills and the National College for High Speed Rail.’ 2. Register to access HS2 contract opportunities: ‘HS2 Ltd will be buying a relatively small number of high value contracts directly for the major packages of work.  This means that the contract opportunities relevant to your business are most likely to be realised through our supply chain.  Our Contract Opportunities Table is a key tool which enables suppliers whose works, goods and services we aren’t buying directly to identify their prospective clients.  We have put this tool in place to help you to identify those organisations at Tier 1 who are directly bidding for work on HS2 or have been awarded contracts.  We encourage you to proactively seek contract opportunities by making contact with the relevant Tier 1 organisations using the email addresses provided. We would also strongly recommend that you register on CompeteFor.  CompeteFor acts as a brokerage service, matching buyers and potential suppliers.  Registration is free, quick and simple and once published, your business profile will be used to match your business with contract opportunities you can then apply for.  We will require our Tier 1 contractors to advertise all appropriate HS2 subcontract opportunities on CompeteFor.  This requirement will be cascaded to their subcontractors and every business working on HS2 will be encouraged to use the CompeteFor service. For details on what HS2 is buying directly, please visit The UK Government’s Contracts Finder.  Where appropriate, some direct opportunities will also be sourced through existing public sector frameworks.  To find out how to join an existing framework, visit the Crown Commercial Services website.’ 3. Send us your questions and stay in touch:  If you have any further queries or comments, please contact ‘Supply Chain Communications’ mailbox at scc@hs2.org.uk.
